Meet our team
Rebecca Gross, Founder, Executive Director, is a recent graduate of Georgetown University where she majored in Economics with a concentration in African Studies. She completed her final dissertation on the impact of the Millennium Development Goals on the quality of education in Sub-Saharan Africa. Rebecca founded SDS because she believes that every girl should have the opportunity to be financially independent and self-empowered. Rebecca leads strategy and operations for Student Driven Solutions programs. She plans for program expansion and leads the fundraising and communications strategy.
Becky Nzawa, Project Officer, is a recent graduate of Chancellor College where she received a Bachelor of Science. She originally volunteered with SDS during our start-up stages and joined us full-time in October 2015. In college, she mentored girls through our partner program Little Big Prints. She is a part of SDS because she wants to inspire young girls since she feels its the least she can do to help her country. She knows from experience that inspiration can take someone far in life. Becky oversees the operations at our partner schools and leads communication between our stakeholders, partners, staff, and volunteers.
Dumiso Banda, Accounts Assistant, graduated from Pact College where he received a diploma in Business Management. He joined Student Driven Solutions to let his skills and knowledge help eradicate poverty in Malawi through impacting financial literacy and entrepreneurship in young girls. “Teaching a girl child is a blessing to the Nation.” He also volunteers at a health centre providing HIV/AIDS education to youth. Dumiso oversees procurement and supplies to ensure that our expenses are handled in the most cost-effective manner possible.
