Agness Nyirongo has a story to share –

I am Agness Nyirongo, I stay in Area 25. I am married and I have three kids. I joined this program because I saw it had the potential of changing the way I understand business. And true to my expectations, the programme has shaped my understanding of small business and how I can run it. It has helped me understand other financial literacy terms like budgeting and planning for emergencies which I had little or no knowledge of.

Tailoring helps me express myself. It is also a means through which I earn money to support my family.

I want to let my customers know that not only will the things I make be beautiful, but they will also be durable.

Jessica Lemesi wants to tell you something-

I am Jessica Lemesi, a twenty three year old single mum with a son. I joined the program so I could gain some skills, which I couldn’t manage to get on my own.

When we were being trained as tailors they did not give us any training in business skills and financial literacy so I find the SDS training to be very helpful. I have learned things like marketing, budgeting, business skills and many others.

I love tailoring and designing because I like dressing up so much. From a very young age I have always wanted to design my own clothes. And its not just designing, I have always wanted to sew my own dresses too.

I studied as far as form four. I have the Malawi School Leaving Certificate of Education (MSCE)

My customers should be assured that my designs will be of high quality and so unique. The money they spend on my designs will help me to enlarge my business and to continue with my education. And the money will benefit not only me but also many other people who depend on me.

We are partnering with local fair trade stores in the U.S. and U.K. and plan to introduce a direct-to-consumer online shop on this page. If you have any suggestions of retailors that might be interested in partnering please email us!
